From 1st December 2019 to 13th April 2020 Palazzo dei Diamanti dedicates an exhibition to Giuseppe De Nittis.
A prestigious selection of works, according to a chronological-thematic itinerary, including some of his most important masterpieces, as well as some works from important museums and private collections, with the aim of re-reading his creative evolution with a new perspective.
The exhibition highlights all the originality of his art and his original way of looking at reality and translating it with immediacy on the canvas thanks to bold shots, sudden cuts and surprising perspectives coupled with a wise rendering of light and atmospheres.
The exhibition will be accompanied by an illustrated catalog which, thanks to the contribution of illustrious academics, will deepen some themes still under-investigated such as the relationship between the artist and photography, the techniques used by the artist and the decisive role of his wife Léontine in painter's career.
