At modernity’s dawn, when scientists and men of letters vied with each other to work out the darkest psyche’s withdrawals, some disturbed artists and visionary tested brand new visual languages, which could open the reigns of the imagination and of the dream and which could resonate the voice of the state of mind.

The exposition, planned for this spring 2018 at “Palazzo dei Diamanti”, explores the innovative and utopian tendencies which, between ‘800 and ‘900, brought inside the artwork emotional vibrations and the ghosts which trouble modern conscience, bringing into play the observer’s sensibility itself.

The protagonists, with their masterpieces, are some of the most original interpreters of the artistic Italian scene between divisionism, symbolism and futurism, like Giovanni Segantini, Gaetano Previati, Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo, Angelo Morbelli, Medardo Rosso, Giacomo Balla, Giorgio de Chirico, Umberto Boccioni and Carlo Carrà. In exposition, some of their most advanced creations will dialogue with works of great exponents of the European symbolism and with witnesses of the scientific and cultural debate through the time, to guide the visitor in a journey in the fascinating areas of the mind fin de siècle.
